This year we are splitting our trials into Tier 1 and Tier 2 to ensure a fair process for all athletes. If you are seeking to be selected in the Premier or Challenger teams you are to attend the Tier 1 trials. For Divisions 1-4 you are to attend Tier 2 Trials. Although there are Divisions 1-4 we may not enter a team in all of these divisions. This is up to the discretion of the club through availability of coaches and resources.
You are required to attend at least 1 trial session, however, it is in your best interest to attend all sessions.
It will cost $25 to trial (The trial fee is then subtracted off your membership fee for the season if you are selected).
U19 Players - you are to trial on the Sunday with the Tier 2 men. If selected you may be offered a position in the Youth U19 squad or one of the divisions. If you have a preference, please approach the coaches on trial day.
You MUST REGISTER BY 8PM the night before the trials, to ensure that you will be considered. If you miss the first one for your age group/team you will be able to register the next day and attend the next trial. NOTE: You will only need to register ONCE for the trials.
For example: You are trialing for Tier 1 Men, registrations will close at 8pm on Monday 10 February 2025 for the first trial and then will re-open on Wednesday for anyone that missed this trial. If you register for the first trial you DO NOT need to register again and can attend both sessions.
**For insurance purposes, all participants must complete their annual Volleyball Queensland Membership prior to taking the court. Those participating in the PVL trials must obtain Full membership for $75 or Recreational membership for $35 to be covered for the year. Link to acquire membership - https://www.vq.org.au/membership/

FAQs
I am unsure of my level, which group should I trial for?
If you are unsure come along to our Tier 2 trials and we can then invite you to the higher group if need be.
Do I need to attend both trials?
You are welcome to attend both trials if you are able to but if you availability limits you to attending both you can just attend which ever one is best for you. Be sure to let us know in your registration when you are attending so we can ensure our coaches and helpers see you.
What if I cannot make any of the trials?
If you are interested in trialing for BVC Bears but cannot make any of the trials, please register so you can be considered and then let us know in your registration that you can't attend. Let us know your playing experience and then can contact you about other arrangements.
Can my friends and I be on the same team?
Unfortunately there are no guarantees which team you will be selected in to, if you are selected. BVC Bears runs as squads meaning that, if selected, you will be allocated into a squad and teams for games will be named closer to games. Due to injuries, availabilities and player skills/development, teams may change throughout the season and are at the discretion of the coaches.
How much are the season fees?
This is yet to be announced. We will let players know at trials the season costs.
When will squads be announced?
At the conclusion of trials, coaches will deliberate and decide on squads. At trials we will let you know when you will receive an offer if selected. There will be multiple offer round and then any unsuccessful trialists will be notified once all spots are filled.
How can I be involved as a coach or assist with the PVL season?
If you are interested in being involved behind the scenes in any capacity such as, coaching, administration, and/or social media and communication please reach out to bears@brisbanevolleyball.org.au
